Their vital services include counseling, youth development, healthy relationship groups, public guardianship, and personal affairs management.

Dr. Courtney Watson is a Professor of English at Radford University Carilion. She has been a professor with the University since 2019. She was previously with the Jefferson College of Health Sciences where she served in several professorships. She is currently the Executive Vice President of the Junior League of Roanoke Valley.
Dr. Watson earned her Bachelor's degree in Communications and Media Studies at the University of Miami, a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction at Florida Atlantic University, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Modernism, Fiction, Contemporary Southern Literature from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Jessie Coffman is the President of the Junior League of Roanoke Valley for the 2025 - 2026 League year. She is currently in her tenth year in the League and her previous roles include Executive Vice President, Grants Chair, and Communications Vice President.
Jessie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology at Hollins University and is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies with a Social Sciences concentration. She is employed as Freedom First Credit Union’s Impact Funding Coordinator. Jessie was honored to be a member of The Roanoker magazine’s inaugural “40 Under 40 class” in 2020 and recently was a nominee for the Roanoke Regional Chamber’s 2025 ATHENA Leadership Awards.
Jessie wrote her college entrance essay on the importance of volunteerism in her life. Twenty years later, volunteering remains central to her life. She is the Secretary of the Roanoke City Public Schools Education Foundation, Secretary of the RCPS City Council PTA, and a member of the RCPS Special Education Advisory Board. An avid reader, Jessie’s passion for literacy led to her role as Chair of the Roanoke Public Library Advisory Board, as Vice Chair and Secretary of the Roanoke Public Library Foundation Board, and stewarding a Little Free Library in her front yard. Recent community leadership positions include: President of the Highland Park Elementary PTA and advising co-horts for Leadership Roanoke Valley.
