Their vital services include counseling, youth development, healthy relationship groups, public guardianship, personal affairs management, and more.

Dr. Nalli Chavez is a hospitalist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Carilion. She grew up in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico in her mother’s flower shop and she continues the family tradition as the owner of the family business, Blossom and Bliss. Nalli volunteers with multiple community health agencies in the Roanoke Valley but this is her first year as a Champion of Family Service of the Roanoke Valley.

Dr. Robert Brown is a triple boarded Emergency physician and Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Carilion. He is a Tarheel who transplanted to Virginia to be a member of the first class of the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He is fluent in Spanish and also volunteers with different community programs to improve the health of our local and immigrant communities. He met Dr. Chavez in a clinic where they were volunteering and this is his first year as a Champion of Family Service of the Roanoke Valley.
