The Mission of Family Service of Roanoke Valley is to support individuals and families as they journey toward lives of emotional wellness, healthy relationships, and a future filled with hope.

Family Service of Roanoke Valley is asking us to rally our friends, family, and networks to support their work. By making a donation to our duo, you will help support more Family Service Counseling, Youth Development, Healthy Relationship Groups, Public Guardianship, and Personal Affairs Management services for the Roanoke Valley. This funding will help bring hope to those who are struggling with a mental health challenge.

Lois James has 30+ years’ business and management experience in the financial, customer service, and senior healthcare industries. She started her career in the secondary mortgage market with Freddie Mac in McLean, VA where she was responsible for reconciling accounts with government regulated reporting criteria. She held leadership positions with Freddie Mac to develop, train, and coach new employees to follow mandated guidelines.

Moving back to the Roanoke area in 2004, she has spent 14 years in the senior healthcare industry holding various leadership and management positions including her most recent position of Regional Director with Generation Solutions. The company won several local and statewide awards during her tenure and had a zero-deficiency rating with the required state inspection.

With a strong passion and desire to help others achieve both professional and personal success, giving back to her community is very important to Lois. She has served as Vice President since 2006 for the Roanoke Senior Networking Group. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce; and, is an Ambassador for the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke.

Originally from the Alleghany Highlands in Clifton Forge, VA, Lois graduated from Virginia Tech where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management with a minor in Sociology. Needless to say, she is an avid VA Tech fan and supporter and she loves to spend time with her faithful dogs.


Emily Bailey is the Business Development Officer for Old Republic National Title. She responds to current customer needs and requests throughout southwest Virginia, as well as develops new settlement and title agencies. As a licensed settlement agent, title examiner and underwriter, Emily’s knowledge allows her to fully understand the workings of the title industry and its demands. Working closely with title agents, attorneys, real estate professionals and lenders, she prides herself on providing products, education and excellent customer service that meet high compliance standards. As a licensed educator for DPOR, Emily enjoys educating realtors on the importance of title insurance and the coverage it provides to their clients. When she isn’t traveling the I-81 and 64 corridors, you’ll find Emily gardening, hiking with her dog Kada and developing new recipes for the jams and jellies she sells at the Botetourt County Farmer’s Market. She has served as an ambassador and board member of the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce for the last 3 years.
