The Mission of Family Service of Roanoke Valley is to support individuals and families as they journey toward lives of emotional wellness, healthy relationships, and a future filled with hope.

Family Service of Roanoke Valley is asking us to rally our friends, family, and networks to support their work. By making a donation to our duo, you will help support more Family Service Counseling, Youth Development, Healthy Relationship Groups, Public Guardianship, and Personal Affairs Management services for the Roanoke Valley. This funding will help bring hope to those who are struggling with a mental health challenge.

Todd Leeson has over 30 years of experience representing and advising Virginia employers in employment and labor law matters and litigation. He regularly defends employment claims in Virginia courts and before agencies including the EEOC, National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), DOL, OSHA (whistleblower and retaliation claims), and the Virginia Division of Human Rights. His experience includes the defense of companies as to alleged violations of Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, FMLA, the NLRA, and Virginia employment laws. Todd regularly drafts, enforces, and/or litigates non-compete agreements and executive employment contracts. In addition, he has considerable experience representing management in labor union matters including union avoidance campaigns, unfair labor practice charges and labor arbitrations. He also represents Virginia colleges in various student conduct matters including Title IX and sexual misconduct complaints.

Todd is rated “AV/Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell, is repeatedly named one of the Best Lawyers in America in Labor & Employment Law, and has regularly been named to various lists, including Virginia Legal Elite and Virginia Super Lawyers. As recent examples, in 2022 Best Lawyers in America named Todd the “Lawyer of the Year” (Labor law-management) in Roanoke. Todd was also honored by Virginia Lawyers Weekly in 2021 as a “Leader in the Law.”

Todd is also a former board member of FSRV and has served as board chair.



Dr. Whitney Leeson is the Chair of the History Department of Roanoke College where her research and teaching interests are in Economic Anthropology, Historical Archaeology, Medieval France, Gift Exchange, Kinship and Marriage, and New World Contact and Colonization. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology and History from the College of William and Mary, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Virginia. She has made numerous conference presentations and is the author of many publications. Most of her recent public history work has focused on the preservation of two properties on the Roanoke College campus - Clay Street House and Monterey Quarters.

Dr. Leeson is also the President of the Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation and is a member of the Mill Mountain Garden Club.
